The system of the mechanical singing bird was invented in 1780 by Jaquet Droz in Switzerland and even nowadays they are seen as mechanical masterpieces. Originally, they were meant as presents for royalty, however even today they make for unique presents or an exquisite collector's item. All of the mechanical singing birds shown on this page are exclusively made by hand in the workshops of the head office in Ruedesheim am Rhein in Germany.
