The woodcutter swings his ax as the cuckoo calls. His little dog watches, and when he finishes the waterwheel turns and the dancers spin along with the music. The sound of the bird is produced by real wooden whistles and the music box movement is hand made in Switzerland. After the cuckoo calls, the zither player comes out and plays a tune.
