Before the cuckoo came into vogue many other animated figures were used on Black Forest clocks. The Bell-Ringing Monk, Laughing Face, and Dumpling Eater were charming examples.
This clock is an authentic replica of a Black Forest clock of the early Nineteenth Century. The Hand-carved and hand-painted figure eats a dumpling, counting the hours and once on the half-hour. His eyes move, arm moves, dumpling moves , and the mouth opens and chews. This clock features an enamel dial, antique brass weights. Also available is a chef figure.
