“Man in open space” – this sensational information dating back to March 18th, 1965, went all around the news agencies on the globe. For the first time in history, a citizen of the earth –Soviet cosmonaut A. Leonov – left a space ship. During his twelve minutes of “free floating” in open space he moved 5m away from the space ship and peered into the infinity of space. After the completion of Yuri Gagarin’s flight, this constituted a second great step towards conquering space. During his flight Leonov wore the chronograph “Strela” on his wrist.
The series “Strela” was produced from 1955 to 1979 in the “First Moscow Watch Factory” and was noted in history as a grand technical success.
“Poljot-International” is producing a remake of the “Strela” chronograph retaining the design of case, hands, crown and dial. In addition, the unusual leather strap features thermal padding of the kind pilots wear, underlining the model’s strict adherence to the original.
Limited edition of 1000 pcs.
